Naomi Kawase

The works of Japanese Film Director Naomi Kawase often feature her hometown of Nara, Japan, and in the 2010, she founded the Nara International Film Festival.

Kawase won la Caméra d’or at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival. Ten years later, she was awarded the Grand Prix for The Mourning Forest at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Her film Hanezu premiered at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, and her latest film Still the Water was also nominated for the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
