China has selected “A Fight over Pollution” to be the national theme of this year’s upcoming World Environment Day. In recent years, management of air quality has become an important topic in improving the lives of China’s urban residents. In France, there are two levels of air quality administration: at the regional level, independent organizations carry out air monitoring programs and provide public information, while at the national level the French National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks (INERIS) and the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy coordinate national policies to combat air pollution in accordance with the European Union.

On the fiftieth anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China, the French Embassy in China and UCCA will hold a lecture/debate on air quality management, exploring the high stakes of international cooperation as the planet attempts to combat pollution.
