For his fifth birthday Carlo asks for a classical guitar and gets one! At the age of 10, after 5 years of self-teaching, he moves to London to continue his guitar studies and to follow Composition and Orchestra Conducting classes at the Royal College of Music.

Starting from 1970, he begins his studies of the Renaissance Lute. In 1977, after having completed his education, he begins teaching guitar at the Montclair State College – New Jersey (USA) Following this, he teaches at the Mimar Sinan University of Istanbul, at the Jyväskylä University (Finland) and at the Sibelius Akademie in Helsinki. During his numerous tours, he teaches courses and seminars in countries throughout the world amongst the Sibelius Akademie – Helsinki, Suomen Kitara Seura – Helsinki, Jyväskylä University –Finland, Turku University – Finland, Mimar Sinan Universitesi – Turkey, Istanbul Devlet Konservatorium – Turkey, Izmir Devlet Konservatorium – Turkey, Caracas Conservatory –Venezuela, Guitarre Academie Neuchatel – Switzerland, Aachen Hoch Musik Schule – Germany.

While undertaking these activities, he holds conferences on musicology subjects in the above mentioned Universities and Conservatories but also for many other musical institutions like The Lute in the European Renaissance. An overview upon different Schools and Styles,

The Elizabethan Period: the Golden Age of English Lute Music, The Guitar in the Nineteenth Century: Italy, Spain and Mittel-Europa, The Italian Virtuoso Music of the Nineteenth Century, 20th Century Guitar. Influence of “Popular Expression” in Classical Aesthetics.

From 1975 to 1989 (Year in which he interrupts his concert performances) he performs over 2000 concerts both as a lute and guitar soloist and along with orchestras, string quartets and duos with many of his colleagues. During this time frame he records 24 LP records, many of which were worldwide premiere recordings; he also records several recitals for radio and television networks all over the world.

In 1989, after having taken more than 3000 airplanes, he’s involved in two plane accidents. The second accident, in Spain, leads him to interrupt his concert career (on February 28, 1989, at the Palau della Musica in Valencia, he walks a classical music auditorium stage for the last time for fifteen years to come). He starts writing film music for Primrose Music London in his recording studio and he devotes himself to music production. In 2003 he decides to resume his concert activities.

Since then he has visited The Scandinavian Countries, Switzerland, France, Spain, England,Germany, Poland, Hungary, Egypt, in addition to several concerts performed in Italy.

In 2006 has been issued the double CD “Mirrors”. Currently, he’s involved with the recording of a series of 5 CDs dedicated to XIX century works for guitar. He is about to publish and record his entire production of compositions for the classical Guitar.
