Produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick, 2001: A Space Odyssey is widely accepted as a milestone for cinematic history and the genre of science fiction. Noted for its scientifically accurate depiction of space flight as well as its innovative use of sound in place of dialogue, the film continues to influence later generations of directors and artists including Korakrit Arunanondchai, whose Beuys-like mythology contemplates similar themes of human evolution, mortality, memory, and cyclicality.
