An exploration of the nature of the universe.
An improvisational feast of music, song and dance.
A contemplation of boundaries, origins and living beings.
On Saturday, February 18, join us in UCCA’s Great Hall for an improvisational feast of music, song, dance and performance. As part of his UCCA solo exhibition “My Personal Universe”, artist Zhan Wang has suspended thousands of stainless steel rock fragments from the ceiling of UCCA’s Great Hall, our largest exhibition space. In this extraordinary setting, a group of artists who call themselves “Utter Improv” will give an improvisational performance using different kinds of artistic language – song, dance, movement and more – to explore the many facets of the universe.
*To buy tickets please go to UCCA or http://e.mosh.cn/10195 for performance on Feb18 and http://e.mosh.cn/10213 for performance on Feb19.

Utter Improv is a group of artists drawn from different disciplines and practices who believe in the power of the truth, the power of the here and now. They have come together to explore their ideas in a setting without boundaries or preconceived schools of artistic thought, and to return art to its true roots.
In 2012, Utter Improv will take their unique brand of “art as dialogue” to Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and other cities. They will also be traveling to the United States, where they will appear at Brown University and work with a variety of global artists to expand their concept of artistic dialogue through “Utter Improv”.
