The Beijing One International Arts of Performance Festival presents French poet Philippe Tancelin, internationally renowned modern dance choreographer Hou Ying, and famed contemporary zither player Wu Na, who together will perform a work that blurs the boundaries of poetry, dance, and music. In their discussion and performance, the three artists will explain the relationship between theirspecialized training and the integration of different art forms.

Philippe Tancelin is an award-winning French poet, philosopher, and educator. He is the head of the Theatre Research Department of the University of Paris VIII and the of the International Center for the Creation of Poetic Spaces. Composed of over 50 artists and professors, the organization researches poetry and what distinguishes it from other art forms.
Wu Na is a zither player who frequently takes part in interdisciplinary performances. Her style fuses jazz, rock, and new age music as well as various other art forms. In 2010, she created the “Zither Stage,” a collaborative performance that incorporated tea ceremony arts, Kunqu, painting, and calligraphy.
Hou Ying is a well-known international choreographer. Her work has been featured in The New York Times several times. As a choreographer, critics often note an absurd and lonely character in her pieces. She has been called “the Kafka of dance.”
