Synopsis:
When a person loses their sight, what are the images that remain with them? When light disappears and shapes are no longer visible, how is life different? The blind or partially-sighted characters in this film demonstrate how images survive in the absence of a visual sense. Sound and touch grow in importance, and imagination and memory become especially precious.
John, a university professor who lost his sensitivity to light 20 years ago; Sylvie, a partially blind professor and sculptor; Aladji, who lost his vision as child but is a record-breaker in track competitions... they all see, but differently. Through the stories of these characters, the film journeys to the limits of the visual world, rendering the rich sensory experience of those who cannot see. Sight (Without Seeing) questions the hegemony of the ocular, inviting us to reassess the hierarchy of the senses that prevails in contemporary life.
