WassinkLundgren

WassinkLundgren is a collaboration between Dutch artists Thijs groot Wassink and Ruben Lundgren. Their work together includes book projects, exhibitions, and photography commissions. They met while studying at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Netherlands and have worked together since 2005. They have produced over a dozen books, including WassinkLundgren is Still Searching (2006); Empty Bottles (2007); Tokyo Tokyo (2011); and Hits (2013), a catalogue published on the occasion of their solo show at FOAM, Amsterdam. They have received several awards, including the Prix du Livre at Rencontres d’Arles (2007) for best contemporary photobook; the China Academy Award (2010); and the award for best independent photo exhibition at the Lishui photo festival (2014). Thijs groot Wassink is based in London and Ruben Lundgren is based in Beijing. Their work is represented by Pékin Fine Arts, Beijing.

Lesley A. Martin

Lesley A. Martin is publisher of the book program at Aperture, a New York-based, not-for-profit foundation. Aperture was created in 1952 by Ansel Adams, Dorothea Lange, Beaumont and Nancy Newhall, and Minor White, among others; its mission is to connect the photo community and its audiences with the most inspiring work, the sharpest ideas, and with each other—in print, in person, and online. Today the foundation publishes a quarterly magazine, hosts exhibitions in its gallery space, offers ongoing panels and lectures, and publishes over twenty-five books a year. Ms. Martin has edited over eighty books of photography, She has taught at the School of Visual Arts, New York and is currently a visiting critic at Yale University.

Gu Zheng

Gu Zheng is a photographer, critic, historian, curator, and associate professor in the School of Journalism at Fudan University, Shanghai. He also serves as vice-director of that university’s Research Center for Visual Culture. A student and long-time friend of the photography historian Beaumont Newhall, Zheng studied under Newhall at the University of Albuquerque in 1979. He has published numerous books on photography, and translated into Chinese many texts on photography, from classic to postmodern. He has also curated several group exhibitions of Chinese photography for venues in China, South Korea, and the United States.
