Independent animation requires three components: an independent spirit, independent thought, and independent production. Among these, independent though is perhaps the most important: it doesn’t matter if you can’t draw, or if you can’t program; with passion and mindfulness, anyone can animate.
In the second talk of the Third China Independent Animation Film Forum at UCCA, Communication University of China Associate Professor Xue Yanping will screen several experimental student animations from China and abroad to stress the importance of sincerity, innocence, and amateurism in animation production. He will discuss the relationship between technical ability and content, giving confidence to students who might lack drawing or programming skills.
