Spring Festival is right around the corner, ushering in the season of traditional Chinese New Year pictures. Different regions and ethnic groups in China each have their own distinctive style of Chinese New Year drawing.

In this activity, students will create a Chinese New Year picture unique to their own style. Guided by UCCA Creative Studio instructors, kids will reflect on their sense of self, their passions, and their dreams. Students will learn about mind maps and how people visualize the self, using images to represent personality and individual history. The final product will be a Chinese New Year picture that reflects both their individual personalities and an engagement with contemporary art techniques.
