Opening 19 September, “Zeng Fanzhi: Parcours” is the artist’s largest and most comprehensive exhibition to date, offering a walk through, among, around, and beyond his diverse yet complementary bodies of work. Following Zeng’s oeuvre, it moves seamlessly from early experiments in realism that began while he was still a student at the Hubei Academy of Fine Arts in Wuhan in the late 1980s, through a series of muted, masked figures following his arrival on the Beijing scene in the mid-1990s, onward to the strikingly colored, tensely vibrating, monumentally scaled canvases that signal his international emergence after 2000, and arriving at the antiquarian serenity of rigorously perceptive works on paper of his own making in the current decade.
As UCCA docents, you will be provided the chance to learn from a world-renown artist and share your passion and insight on the exhibition with fellow art lovers. For all involved, joining in the UCCA docents team is not only a challenge, but also a precious encounter with art and life. This means each docent shoulders great responsibility, but your contribution will lead to the popularization and promotion of contemporary art.
We appreciate and encourage the active involvement of our current docents during the exhibition period. We also welcome new friends to join our docent team. Whether you are a student, employed, or a retiree, as long as you are enthusiastic about art, your participation is a welcome addition. Regardless of your nationality or native language, we look forward to seeing you!
