From March 9 to May 19, 2019, in collaboration with the Foundation for the Exhibition of Photography (FEP), UCCA Center for Contemporary Art presented “Civilization: The Way We Live Now,” a monumental photography exhibition featuring over 250 artworks by more than 120 photographers from Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. On the occasion of the exhibition’s Beijing installment, UCCA produced a Chinese edition of the exhibition catalogue, first published by Thames & Hudson. Civilization includes an essay by exhibition co-curator William A. Ewing and eight thematic chapters accompanied by artist commentaries that further illuminate the exhibition.
