“New Directions” was a series of project-based exhibitions by young artists from Greater China. The series offered a platform for artists to realize a first institutional solo exhibition and bilingual monograph. New Directions: Tao Hui accompanied the exhibition of the same name, in which Tao Hui drew from folklore and films of his childhood to create immersive video installations bending the boundaries of fiction and reality. The publication includes a preface by UCCA Director Philip Tinari, an interview with the artist, essays contributed by Yang Zi and Yung Ma, and reproductions of the exhibited works.
