“Art Discoveries at UCCA”, is a new series of interactive art workshops designed for kids 7-10 years old. The series aims to help children acquire a greater appreciation for contemporary art and increase their artistic and aesthetic awareness. These workshops offer an environment where children can discover the artist within themselves and explore their creative potential. For the autumn series, UCCA is teaming up with Sierra Forest, a dynamic and creative teacher with 10 years of experience teaching around the world.

ABOUT OUR GUEST

Sierra Forest, a native New Yorker, began teaching children and adolescents over 9 years ago. A certified teacher with an MA in Education, her cultural curiosity led her to pursue a career as an English teacher and enabled her to live and teach abroad.

She has taught in New York City and Madrid and now brings her love of children, education and culture to China. Aware that through art and design activities children can discover and explore history, literature, math and culture, she has always included projects and activities in her classroom that allow children to learn hands-on.

As a teacher in cities where creativity and art flourished around her, Sierra Forest began working with local and international artists who were interested in creating projects where children can engage and learn from the experience. You can see pictures and a video from her most recent project working alongside French artist Eltono here:
