Li Gang (Artist)
Li Gang (b. 1986, Dali, China) lives and works in Beijing. His recent solo exhibitions include “Fictional Symbol” (Galerie Forsblom, Helsinki, 2017); “Complexion” (Galerie Rolando Anselmi, Rome, 2017); and “Li Gang” (Galerie Urs Meile, Lucerne, 2017). Recet group shows include: “Être et ne pas être” (Yishu 8 art foundation, Beijing, 2016); “Inventing Ritual” (Louis Vuitton Foundation Museum, Paris, 2016); The 6th Moscow Biennial (Moscow, 2015); and “Inside China: L’Intérieurdu Géant” (Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2014). Li Gang experiments with various aesthetic possibilities through a wide range of media, from painting and photography, to installation and sculpture. He is interested in transforming everyday objects into something poetic and unique.
Alice Wang (Artist)
Alice Wang (b. 1983, Xi’an) received her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and International Relations from the University of Toronto, BFA from the California Institute of the Arts, and MFA from New York University. Her first solo exhibition in China is currently on view at Capsule Shanghai. She is currently based in Los Angeles.
Yang Zi (UCCA Curator)
Yang Zi received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religious studies from Nanjing University, and is currently a curator for UCCA. Yang Zi has worked in art criticism and curation for nearly ten years, starting with his participation in the YCCA project at UCCA in 2008, which introduced him to art criticism and writing. Prior to joining UCCA, Yang Zi was an editor of LEAP, and he has written extensively for a range of publications, including LEAP, Artforum China, Art Bank, and Art Time, among others. He acted as executive editor on a series of UCCA catalogues, including Wang Yin: The Gift, Liu Wei: Colors, Xu Zhen: A MadeIn Company Production, and Zeng Fanzhi: Parcours. His curatorial projects include “La Chair” (A+ Contemporary, Shanghai, 2016) and “Secret Chamber” (am Art Space, Shanghai, 2016).
