The Embassy of the Netherlands in China and UCCA are honored to invite Dutch book designer Remco van Bladel and Chinese graphic designer Guang Yu to have a conversation, titled “Book Scavenger: When Designers and Artists Meet.”Both Van Bladel and Guang have collaborated with numerous award-winning artists; Van Bladel, for example, designed the portfolio of Herman de Vries, later exhibited at the 56th Venice Biennale; and Guang has collaborated with Masayoshi Nakajo to produce the catalogue for his solo exhibition, “In & Out.” Come to UCCA and listen to these two speakers talk about the intersections, affinities, and connections formed when art and design meet.

Remco van Bladel

Remco van Bladel, based in Amsterdam, is the co-founder of noise band/art collective “Sonido Gris,” Dutch art book publisher 'onomatopee,' and 'WdW Review' (witte de with, Rotterdam). Van Bladel is also a typography and graphic design tutor at ArtEZ and a visiting professor at many art schools throughout the Netherlands and abroad. His studio focuses on editorial book design, publishing projects, curatorial projects, institutional identities, interactive applications and websites.

Guang Yu

Guang Yu is the co-founder of A BLACK COVER Design, an art director, and a member of Alliance Graphic International. In 2009, he was nominated by D&D; In both 2008 and 2004, he won the JP TDC Prize and JP Non-menber prize by Tokyo Type Directors Club; Also 85th and 86th Art Directors Club Annual Award, Merit Award, NY, USA; In 2010, Guang Yu was one of the Jury Members of Tokyo Type Directors Club 2011, Tokyo, JP.
