In his work Draftsmen’s Congress, Polish contemporary artist Paweł Althamer invites museum visitors to draw at will on the floor and walls of the exhibition space, creating an open-ended dialogue among participants in which communication takes place by interacting with and responding to each other’s drawn gestures.

UCCA, in partnership with Beijing Golden Wings Art Rehabilitation Service Center for Disabled Children, invites children with autism and their parents to a unique family art-making day at the Center.

The artist and the UCCA Public Programs Department have prepared many different painting materials and tools for participants to use in the UCCA Nave. Members of Althamer’s team will introduce the exhibition and talk about how they convey ideas through art. Then they will invite everyone to draw freely on the floor and walls of the museum, encouraging them to communicate with each other through painting. American cellist Jacob Cohen and Chinese zitherist Xu Kun will also stage an improvisational music performance in the Nave, creating a dialogue between music and painting, East and West.
