*LLND is a multimedia art collective founded by Laurent and Nathalie in 2003. They have exhibited their artworks and given audio-visual performances in many museums and art galleries around the world. This summer, UCCA is pleased to host their performance “Resonance of the Void,” a dynamic audio-visual performance that plunges the spectators into seeing the invisible at the very root of sound. Inspired by Taoist thoughts and German mathematician Johannes Kepler’s calculations of planetary orbital frequencies, which he called the music of the spheres, LLND will use dishes of water and plates covered with sand in their sound-making which, accompanied by the stunning live imagery, will lead the audience into a mesmerizing audio-visual universe.

The sound of *LL aka Lochoi is often described as a gallop of rhythms gathered for a trance ceremonial around the fire pit, like in ancient times. Accompanied by the repetitive drumbeats, the story is permanently writing itself, amplifying at times or others the sound of wind travelling through the tree leaves, the fire crackling, whispers of unheard talks, tears and crying filled with fears, laughter, poetry, and chants. Filled with wild energy, Lochoid’s music reminds us of Club Berghain’s techno mixes and iconic DJs like Jeff Mills

Nathalie Delpech aka Pechou is the co-founder of *LLND. She is a graduate of ENSAD Paris (Arts Decoratifs), with a degree in special effects and postproduction from the department of Cinema, Video, and Animation. Since 1999 she has made video clips for many electro bands and has performed as VJ for live bands and International DJs. Passionate about literature, history, and science, she’s adept at incorporating her theoretical interests in *LLND’s installations and performances. As a VJ she looks for links between parallel worlds by giving life to inanimate objects. Her live visuals are often produced with DIY devices, live cameras, and an extended collection of objects which she transforms into image following the rhythm of the music.
